04 Details & specifications

Transparentstandards.

Every project starts with evaluating the surfaces and properly preparing them. We pressure-wash exterior areas, scrape and prime where needed, remove failed caulk, and apply lifetime caulk at joints and trim.

Windows, foundations, patios, decks, roofs, surrounding plants, walkways and hardscape are fully masked before painting begins. Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Exterior Acrylic Latex is our recommended product, though we can use your preferred brand. A two-coat system is applied with proper dry times, and remaining paint is left with you.

11 Painting in Newberg

Paint thatholds up.

A good exterior paint job is mostly preparation. In western Oregon, where siding and trim stay damp for much of the year, paint has to fight moisture, moss and sunlight, and the finish only lasts when the surface underneath is sound. This is how Salexx approaches exterior painting for homeowners in Newberg, Sherwood, Portland and the surrounding area.

Preparation is where paint jobs succeed or fail

We pressure-wash the exterior the day before painting so surfaces can dry, then scrape loose paint, sand rough areas, repair damaged trim and prime bare wood and patched spots. Failed caulk is removed and replaced with a lifetime caulk at joints and trim, which keeps moisture from working in behind the paint. We mask windows, foundations, patios, decks, roofs and surrounding plants so the finished work looks clean and your property stays protected.

The right products for our climate

We use Sherwin-Williams products for reliable long-term performance, applied in a two-coat system with proper drying time between coats. Low-VOC and no-VOC options are available if you prefer less odor and a cleaner product. Color matters as much as chemistry, so we use Sherwin-Williams color tools and sample cards and look at your light, your roof and your neighborhood before you commit.

When to repaint

Peeling or blistering paint, chalky or faded surfaces, cracked caulk, bare wood and visible mildew are signs your exterior is due. Waiting too long lets moisture reach the wood and turns a paint job into carpentry, so it often costs less to repaint a little early. In the Willamette Valley the best painting weather is usually the dry stretch from late spring through early fall, and booking ahead helps you get on the schedule.

Lead-safe work for older homes

If your home was built before 1978, the existing paint may contain lead. As an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, we follow the required practices for containing dust and cleaning up so your family and neighbors stay protected. Every project is also covered by our workmanship warranty, which includes touch-ups and missed areas.

More than just the house

Exterior painting is not limited to the main walls. We also paint fences, decks, sheds, garages, offices, apartments and other commercial facilities, using the same preparation and masking standards on every surface. A consistent finish across the house, trim, doors and outbuildings makes the whole property look cared for, and it protects each surface from the same weather.

What a consultation looks like

Every project begins with a consultation and an assessment of the surfaces, followed by a detailed quote and timeline. We talk through color, finish and scheduling, answer your questions and make sure you know what is included before any work begins. At the end of the project we complete a final inspection and walk through it with you for your approval.
